We are excited to announce after a one-year hiatus, the ASIS Austin Chapter's 5th Law Enforcement Appreciation Event!!  This year we will be combining a few things given we are still working our way back to our "normal" in our communities.  First, we will be having breakfast delivered to several local police agencies in recognition of the hard work to protect our communities across Central Texas.  Second, we will be recognizing an officer of the year and will be shining some recognition on a well-deserving individual for their outstanding contributions.  Finally, we will host a virtual keynote and are excited to be joined by Nick Porter for this year's event.

Here is a brief bio about our featured speaker for this month:

Supervisory Special Agent Nick Porter is the law enforcement liaison chair for the Houston chapter of ASIS International. He is the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Diplomatic Security Service’s Houston Field Office. As the Assistant Special Agent in Charge, he plans and manages large operational and program assets in support of over 60 special agents and support staff covering an area of responsibility spanning Texas, Oklahoma, and part of New Mexico. The Houston Field Office’s mission includes conducting complex criminal investigations pertaining to passport and visa fraud, performing dignitary protection for designated foreign and domestic officials, and overseeing the Department of State’s enterprise security risk management to ensure the safety and security of foreign consulates and diplomats residing in the Houston Field Office’s area of responsibility. Prior to this assignment, Supervisory Special Agent Porter served one year attending the Marine Corps University’s Command and Staff College where he earned a Master’s degree focused on leadership and national security studies. His overseas assignments include serving overseas a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at the US embassies in Bangladesh, Brunei, Iraq, Oman, and Pakistan. Domestically, he has served as deputy chief of Diplomatic Security’s Operations Planning Staff, as a team leader within Diplomatic Security’s Office of Mobile Security Deployments, and began his career in the Boston Field Office.

Special Agent Porter earned his bachelor's at Florida State University and is a current ASIS-International Certified Protection Professional (CPP©). He was featured in the January 2020 Security Management magazine’s certification spotlight and has spoken at numerous events regarding law enforcement and security. He is married and has twin baby girls.

Thanks and we look forward to having you at the keynote presentation as well as recognizing our local law enforcement partners!
